Without blinking an eye, 2017 is coming to an end right after the Christmas holidays.  How many of you feel just like me, that you have yet to fulfil or achieve the resolutions you set at the beginning of the year?

One of my 2017 New Year resolutions was to get fitter and healthier.  Wanting to be a hands-on mom as much as possible, I try to do as much as I can with my two girls, carry them, play with them, run with them, etc.  Carrying them, sometimes both at the same time is no joke.  My back does feel like breaking at times.  Coupled with long hours at the computer during working hours, I can feel pains and aches here and there with my body asking for a break.

Most of us choose to endure and bear with such body or muscle aches and pains and dismiss it, thinking the aches and pains will go away eventually.  Some of us may use traditional chinese medicated oil or apply one of those plasters to ease the pain.  I did the same and my thoughts were that it must be due to age catching up and such pains and aches are natural occurences.  I try to bear with such pain when it comes as I do not like to take painkillers unless absolutely necessary.

It wasn't till I started reading and researching more about magnesium which was triggered by my mom-in-law's knee pain during our holiday in Perth, that I realised the benefits of this lesser-known master mineral.  Magnesium is a crucial mineral supporting more than 300 functions in the body. Magnesium helps keep blood pressure normal, bones strong, and the heart rhythm steady.

Benefits of Magnesium include but are not limited to the following:

  • Helps Increase Energy. ...
  • Calms Nerves and Anxiety. ...
  • Alleviates Insomnia and Helps You Fall Asleep. ...
  • Helps with Digestion by Relieving Constipation. ...
  • Relieves Muscle Aches and Spasms. ...
  • Regulates Levels of Calcium, Potassium and Sodium. ...
  • Important for Heart Health. ...
  • Prevents Migraine Headaches.
Therefore, it could be due to lack of magnesium in our bodies that we experience lethargy, cramps, aches and pains, etc.  And if you experience the above symptoms just like me, you may have some form of magnesium deficiency where magnesium supplements can be helpful.
